I bet if you’re here, you’d like to know a little more about me before you decide whether or not to get in touch. I totally understand! Having photos done can be a daunting process, and I get that you want to make sure that whomever you choose to spend time with is a good fit for you and your family.
First and foremost, I’m mum to two great kids who keep me on my toes. Boy do they ever keep me on my toes! My son is a teenager who both swims and skis competitively, and my daughter is a primary schooler who is always in motion! The only thing that keeps her (more or less) still is art. She will easily spend an hour creating a masterpiece… but the craft supplies will be strewn everywhere and there will undoubtedly be paint on the floor. Otherwise she’s a blur of running and jumping, whooping and hollering, riding her bike around the neighbourhood!
Despite living in the ‘burbs, I’m definitely a wilderness girl at heart. I’m in my happy place when I’m paddling my canoe, or camping near a lake. If it’s fall, that’s even better! Also? I have a deep and abiding love of campfires… Even just walking in the woods around Ottawa can bring me back to myself when stress creeps in.
After a session, when I’m working on your images, I like to have a nice big mug of tea next to me. When the work is done for the day though, make that a glass of a nice, big red! Freshly baked bread may just be my downfall, but I’m ok with that… after all, I love to bake bread; I’m hoping to turn my kids into lovers of bread baking too. Some of my fondest memories as a kid are of being in the kitchen with my dad, kneading and proofing, shaping, and baking bread.
So… why Closely Knit Photography? There are a couple of reasons I chose to name my business Closely Knit Photography. Firstly, for me, it evokes the closeness of family. It speaks to how families- both those we’re born into and those we choose- hold on tight to each other, support and love one another. A huge part of why I do what I do is to give families a tangible, visible reminder of the love they share.
The other reason I chose Closely Knit Photography, to be honest, is because I’m a great big knit nerd! I’ve been knitting for a good twenty years, and it’s a pretty integral part of who I am. There’s nothing better than wrapping a loved one up in something warm and cozy that came from the heart. Bearing this in mind, I brought my love of fibre arts into my photography! I hand make all of the hats, bonnets, and knitted onesies that my newborn clients wear.
I hope you feel like you have a little better idea of who I am and what I’m all about. As I said, I completely understand that choosing a photographer to work with, and to spend money on, can be tough. Click INQUIRE above to get in touch and we’ll chat in person. I look forward to meeting you!
