Sleeping newborn photos baby boy in hand knit romper PINIMAGEMeet Baby Beckett! He is just the most chill, relaxed little guy; and he loved posing for his newborn photos. When he arrived at the studio he was awake and curious, and quickly got into the groove when he got to cuddle with his big sister. She is so proud of him, and so completely in love!

Look at how she’s doting on him! Big sis cooed and shushed, kissed and cuddled her new brother, and took such great care of him. I just know that she’s going to make an amazing sister for Beck to idolize! While we were taking their photos together, she was busy showing me his tiny fingers, and explained how strong he was and how she likes it when he holds her finger.

These two, even though they’re about 6 years apart, are going to be real buds, for sure. They just made my heart melt!

I think that once it was time for Beck on his own, he was taking his cues from his Mum; she was happy to rest and relax all comfy on the couch so he must have thought “ok, cool! I’ll just chill here, too!”.

He showed me his awesome pouty lips, his lovely long eyelashes, and his delicious baby rolls, and I loved every minute of it! I am really looking forward to watching this little guy grow up, and seeing how his big sister blossoms in her new role. I’m betting he’ll be an observer. He’ll have the pulse of everything going on, and he’ll take it all in stride.

Mothers’ Day minis are almost here! Mums are our biggest cheerleaders, our taxi drivers, they cook, clean, and do laundry for the family, and more often than not they’re the ones documenting the kids’ lives. This year make sure that Mum is IN the photos! Who doesn’t love to look back through the photo albums of when they were kids? Wouldn’t your kids want to see mum in those photos too? Of course! Let me help you with that.

Just a quick 20 minutes session will allow us to focus on the connection between Mum and her little (or not-so-little!) ones. You’ll be amazed at how painless it is, and what beautiful photographs you’ll have to remember this stage in your kids’ and their mum’s life.

Click on inquire up above to get in touch for more information or to book your session. As the session is after Mothers’ Day, it will make a great surprise gift!

Till next time…

Well, spring is taking its sweet time arriving this year, and I need some colour in my life after the long grey winter! This session is from waaaaay back in the fall, and with the beautiful fall foliage at the Arboretum I thought it would be great to blog about it.

I have to say that this family was a delight to photograph. What made it really special was that it was their first time having family photos done! They were a little nervous at first, but as you can see it didn’t take long before the nerves were shed and we were all laughing, playing, and having a great time. The girls were full of energy, and Mum and Dad were happy to see how much fun they were having through the process.  Arboretum Family 2015PINIMAGEI’m so happy that these guys have these photos to hold onto! It’s so important that we take the time to make memories, but also that we stop to take photos to remember who we were at different points along the way. The kids grow up, the dynamic changes, but at the centre of it all is a family who love each other to pieces!

Do you feel like it’s time to jump in and have your family photographed? I’d love to hear from you! We’ll put together a session that perfectly reflects your family and what you’re all about. Click Inquire at the top there to get the ball rolling!

Until next time…

Nepean Family Photographer

Now that we’re well past the holiday season, it’s safe to blog about sessions that needed secrecy before Christmas presents were given!

I love love love when clients come back year after year, and I get to watch their family grow. I had the pleasure of photographing both boys’ newborn sessions, and a family session when the oldest turned one; before the little guy came on the scene. Now that their youngest is up and running it was time to get them in front of the camera again!

It was a gorgeous fall evening at Andrew Haydon Park in Nepean, and wouldn’t you know it, the whole city had the same idea as we had! The park was teeming with people; enjoying bbq’s, playing frisbee, going for walks, and enjoying the sun. It made for some waiting for people to move on, as well as some creative shooting, but we let the boys run and have fun, and took the pressure off for “good behaviour”… so everyone had a good time. When energy dipped we stopped for a quick snack and a snuggle, and that turned into a gorgeous photo too. It’s all about going with the flow. I can’t wait to see and photograph them again!

Step into the time machine and check out their last family session here. And click here to see another of my favourites from this session…

I’m starting to book up for Spring and Summer sessions, so if you’re thinking it’s time for YOUR family to get in front of the camera, and you’d love to experience being pampered by Closely Knit Photography, I encourage you to get in touch!
